Match Reports - 18th March 2006
| Match Reports | Round-up |
| Kites 2 Falcons 0 This was a match neither team could afford to lose without jeopardising their title hopes. Perhaps that's why the first half remained goalless. The very strong wind blowing the length of the pitch made control difficult. In the second half it was behind the Kites and eventually they found the net twice. Hawks 2 Kestrels 4 This was definitely a game of two halves. The first half saw the Kestrels take what seemed a comfortable 2-0 lead. The half-time pep talk must have inspired the Hawks, as within a couple of minutes of the restart they were back on terms at 2-2. By the end, however, the pressure of being a player short throughout was too much, and the Kestrels ran out 4-2 winners. |
A decidedly cold day saw some hot action on the pitch in Week Eight.
The Kites avenged their Week One defeat by the Falcons to move above them in the Birds of Prey league, but cannot afford to drop points in the last two fixtures, as the Falcons have a much greater goal difference. The Eagles moved above the Hawks to take 3rd place. |
| Cougars 2 Leopards 4 The Leopards left it late this week. The Cougars were playing into the teeth of the bitterly cold wind in the second half, and held on to an unexpected 2-2 scoreline for a long time. Eventually, however, the Leopards broke through for a 4-2 win. |
In the Big Cats league it looked for a while as if the
Leopards were going to drop points and keep the hopes of the
Jaguars alive, but in the end the top 3 teams all won.
The Tigers need to beat the Jaguars in Week Nine to have a chance of claiming 2nd place. |
