Colliers Wood Little League Football

Newsletter No.3 November 2003

Secretary's Notes

Well, it's almost December and a good time to look back on the season so far. Wasn't the opening day great? (We've had lots of people wanting a barbecue every week!)

Congratulations to the Tigers for their 6 wins out of 6.

Most squads are now just about complete, with 10 players registered, so new players will go into the Reserve Pool.

If a child is going to be unable to play, please make sure you tell his/her Team Manager as soon as possible.

We have accumulated a fair bit of lost property. This can be found each week near the Secretary's table. Bags for litter and rubbish are also in the same place.

We hope to have our own storage container soon, which will make life easier, and perhaps mean we can offer an even wider range of refreshments.

We Are Very Grateful

To anyone who's helped put up and take down the goalposts.

To all the referees.

Sponsors

We wouldn't exist without the generous help of our local sponsors. When you use them, let them know how grateful you are that they are helping YOUR child play organised football on Saturdays.

Social Event

We are holding a Social Event in the New Year.

It will be on Saturday 31st January 2004 at the Guardian Centre in Clarendon Road. Tickets will be £5 for adults, £1 for children (who must be accompanied).

If you would like to help with the planning of this, please speak to a Team Manager or Wendy, Tom or Peter.

The Little League Concept

A reminder of why Little League Football is so special:

Help Wanted

If anyone would like to write match reports, we can publish them on our website.

We need volunteers to help run the Reserve Pool. It could be run like a training session.

Fund Raising ideas are always welcome. The Bonus Ball game and Refreshments are helping a lot, and we have applied for a grant from the Community Dividend Scheme run by the Co-op.

Our next meeting is on Monday 8th December. 9pm in GJs as usual (Colliers Wood High St, opposite the Fish Inn, next to the Community Centre)

Spring 2004

After Xmas we will catch up on the postponed games, and run a Cup competition. Then the Spring Season will kick off. The Autumn winners and Spring winners (if different) will meet in a Grand Final.

Playing for pleasure is more important than winning at all costs
