COLLIERS WOOD LITTLE LEAGUE FOOTBALL
Minutes of meeting held at GJs Monday 9th February 2004
Present: Tom Walsh, Kevin McGowan, Kevin Godding, Joe Bettell, Peter Dauncey
Apologies: Ben Walsh, Mark Greaves
Social Event went really well. Various things could be done differently next time to make it even more successful as a fund raiser. Next event will be in the park (date tba), so there could be a Penalty Competition, with kids getting sponsored for each goal scored. (Want to encourage as many people as possible to be involved in fund-raising, otherwise it may be seen as a job for the committee. Also a good idea to have a clear purpose (e.g. trophies or equipment) for a fund-raising event.)
National Tournament - Entry form submitted 29/1. BW has selected squad of 24 and wants training session after regular games on 14/2. PD to advise managers so they can notify their players. Friendly with Mitcham arranged for afternoon of 13/3 at Canons. Suggested team name is Colliers Wood Wildcats.
Playing Procedures - All agreed that the use of Tennis Court should be abandoned, as too dangerous. Agreed to remain flexible for time being regarding junior/senior crossover age.
Referees - Volunteers needed. Middle games could be taken by managers whose seniors are on first and juniors are on last. This happens 3 or 4 times in a 10 week season, so not much to ask. BW will draw up a rota. Kits to be purchased when funds permit. TW to contact Erroll Walker, who is believed to be doing a refs course.
FA Level 1 Training Course - to be arranged via LLF. Possibility of partial funding via Small Firms Learning Account (PD to attend workshop 26/2 at MVSC). PD/TW to contact Sue Haylock to discuss dates/numbers. If we can't get minimum number ourselves, open to other leagues.
Website is getting lots of hits. First match report awaited, should start snowball effect as everyone loves to see their name "in print".
Storage Container - with KT.
Date of Next Meeting 8 Mar 2004 at 9pm (or later, if CWRA meeting overruns).
